QSFP can be used as a fiber solution and outperforms 4-channel CX4 interfaces in both speed and density. Because it can support four channels of data transfer at 10 Gbps per channel in the same port volume as XFP, QSFP can be four times as dense as XFP products and three times as dense as SFP+ products. QSFP interfaces with four channels and higher density than CX4 have been adopted by the InfiniBand standard.

The Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable (QSFP)  is a compact hot-swappable transceiver for data communications applications. The form factor and electrical interface are specified by the Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) under the auspices of the Small Form Factor Committee. It connects network hardware, such as servers and switches, to fiber optic cables or active or passive electrical copper connections. It is an industry format developed and supported by many network component vendors that allow data rates ranging from 4x1 Gb/s for QSFP and 4x10 Gbit/s for QSFP+ to a maximum rate of 4x28 Gbit/s, i.e. QSFP28 for 100 Gbit/s links.
